Sacred Mother Tongue set to tour China; plus Andy James guitar Clinics

Having been cooped up in the studio since their last sighted, stage-ripping performance at Download 2011, Sacred Mother Tongue have set out to fulfil that “massive globe-bothering potential” attributed to them back in 2009. Their debut release Ruin of Man set the benchmark and this year, Sacred Mother Tongue’s follow up release promises to establish them as one of the most prominent Rock and Metal artists on the scene to date and things are hotting up already for the Midlands’ four-piece as they announce their very first headline tour of China.

May 19th will see Sacred Mother Tongue kick start their tour of the east with a performance at the popular Hang Zhou West Lake Music Festival, famous for it’s selection of musical acts, ranging from local folk acts to American Rock ‘n’ Roll and this year, incorporating the best of British Metal today. Sacred Mother Tongue will then be taking their unique, not to mention potent, Rock/Metal crossover mix further afield to Shanghai, WuQiang, Shenyang & Beijing, headlining some of the best live music venues China has to offer.

Sacred Mother Tongue have established themselves as one of the most respected British breakthrough artists in their genre, consistently delivering impressive live performances. If it’s not Shred Master Andy James, the infamous Josh-Pit, or their powerhouse drummer Lee Newell, this year vocalist Darrin South adds a new vocal style which is already attracting media attention ahead of their brand new release out this summer. The attention has spread Worldwide and it is Xoundforce (Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, Sum 41) that reached out to the band and insisted they share their music in China:

“To say we’re looking forward to this has got to be an understatement really… We’ve always been lucky enough to have fans from all over the world but this tour is going to be the first time we can go to them and fulfil our promise of a killer performance as a thank you for that support.
We’ve got new material that the fans in China will hear before anyone else in the World… We’ll be performing a mix of material from Ruin of Man and a few tasters from the new release: as musicians and individuals we’ve found some deeper roots to pull on, so technically, and personally, we’ve grown… we are pretty excited by what we’ve produced – let’s hope China digs it too!”

Guitarist Andy James will also be staying on after the tour to host his very own clinics to those wishing insight into all that is Metal, Shred and guitar! Recently credited by Paul Gilbert as one of the top 20 guitarists in the World and having taken an order from John Petrucci himself for his self-titled album released last year, Andy has been flown all over the World to host masterclasses, to perform his material whilst demonstrating technique and to design his own signature custom ESP guitar! Andy James will be hosting 9 clinics in total in conjunction with Xoundforce.

UK and Europe dates to be announced shortly, as well as festival appearances, and the new album is due to hit the streets in early Autumn…

It’s been a long time coming but our home-grown Vikings are back with their best offering to date!

VIKING SKULL
Ingredients:

2 parts Whiskey, Motorhead, Sabbath & Maiden
1 part WASP
and a cupful of ACDC

Formed amidst the Steelworks town of Corby, Northamptonshire, their very own first chapter was born: ‘Chapter One‘ (released on the Grand Union Label) and set the scene for VIKING SKULL. Top notch reviews were abundant and a landmark 11/10 review from Metal Hammer lead the band to secure a busy touring schedule supporting the likes of Alice Cooper, HIM, Clutch and Dio! 2005 saw Viking Skull release ‘Born in Hell‘ (Grand Union Label/456 Entertainment) but we believe a bottle or two of Absinthe is to blame for what then became a two year break… isn’t it always!

The aptly named ‘Chapter Two‘ was recorded in Philadelphia, PA, after signing a deal with Bam Margeras record label ‘FilthyNote‘ and featured guest appearances from Reverend Jim of Fireball Ministry, the Brandywine Eel of Gnarkill, Unkle Matt & the Shitbirdz, and Chad I Ginsburg of CKY but it was ‘Doom, Gloom, Heartache and Whiskey‘ that was last installment from a band who consistently delivers it’s own potent brand of dirty Rock ‘n’ Roll Metal. The come-back earned them another tour with Clutch and a string of headline dates in the USA, including one notable appearance at Bam Margera’s venue ‘The Note’ in West Chester, where he also directed the video for album track ‘Hair of the Dog‘.

CURSED BY THE SWORD sees original member Frank Regan return to the line up as they bite back with their hardest hitting material to date, proving that this band should never be underestimated. This record is a welcome release amongst all that is ‘scene‘ and trend-y: it is unashamedly music for Men. The whiskey soaked riffs are sleazier, yet the hooks are undeniable as they invite the listener to join them in their oily pit of mud, blood and beer. This is what we came here for, this is what it’s all about, VIKING SKULL have delivered everything we hoped for and more!

TIME FOR SIX HOUR SUNDOWN

Following their highly charged debut music video for recent single Jekyll and Hyde, SIX HOUR SUNDOWN now take us behind the scenes at their rehearsal studios. This new promo video is for a track taken from their hotly anticipated album called ‘Shadow of my Past‘.

The band are currently in USA where they are promoting their single JEKYLL & HYDE and generally flying the flag for British Hard Rock. Their own take on the genre is a blend of edgy, guitar driven catchy riffs, with huge hooks, topped off with powerful yet soulful vocals, the kind of music that would find itself at home on most of our playlists! The band come in to their element with blistering live performances that have allowed them to stand out, pushing past the cliches and quashing the stereotypes to head up the new army of female-fronted Rock acts making an impression in 2012.

Their appeal not only blurs the boundaries of musical genre but spans continents. America have them for the next month as they head into radio stations and give interviews, but Europe will have their fix soon enough as the band announce that they have been invited to perform at this year’s SONISPHERE, Spain alongside Metallica, SoundGarden, Evanescence, Machine Head and Fear Factory. MONUMENT ANNOUNCE NEW GUITARIST & DEBUT SINGLE:

The Second Wave of British Heavy Metal was never going to arrive quietly onto the scene and MONUMENT are more than happy to waving the flag and making the noise!

Since signalling their arrival on the scene with a showcase and an unforgettable performance at the infamous CroBar last year, MONUMENT have been working hard perfecting their sound, paying obvious tribute to their inspirations but also taking on the responsibility of ensuring this new wave has it’s own identity. In the summer, they ga

ve us teaser track, ‘Rock The Night‘ featuring none other than Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest) on guitar that fulfilled this mission statement: it was bold, brash and British to the core. It was gritty yet merry, irrepresible in it’s celebration of all that is Heavy Metal…

‘FATAL ATTACK‘ is the official single release from MONUMENT and is taken from their debut EP due out later this year. I will warn you: once you play this song, it will be extremely difficult to shift. The passion of Peter Ellis’ vocal will pull you in, they lyrics are unshakeable, and the drums and riffage will act like a Heavy Metal pace-maker….

What is equally exciting for this band is the recruitment of new guitarist (and fellow ex-member of White Wizzard!) Lewis Stephens who shares Ellis’ musical vision for the project:

“Since working with Peter in White Wizzard, him and I developed a great bond and friendship, and from that worked well together musically.
Ever since listening to ‘Rock The Night’ I knew Monument had great prospects, and I am honoured to be given the opportunity to play these great songs and to work with Peter again. I cant wait to get out on the road with the guys, and show the world what the 2nd wave of British Heavy Metal is all about!”

The single will be accompanied by a music video, in which MONUMENT will be portraying an attack of the fatal kind… Ripper-style! Aside from the obvious title connection, Jack the Ripper was to many in the East End what Grimm Fairytales were to us; ever-present:

“I have been living in the East End of London for a very long time and I often find myself in some of the places that Jack The Ripper committed his murders so it was a very natural thing for me to write a song about him. Lyrical references to “The Beast” and “The Priest” upon the backdrop of London’s East End, becomes more of a statement on what Monument is all about, as well as a tribute to the bands that have inspired us to play this type of music and to do things they way we do.”

As the World nears it’s end in 2012, the cortège descends upon us …

And the responsibility for a soundtrack heralding such an Apocalyse, falls into the hands of two of the industry’s most destructive musical forces. Elimination and Triaxis will be taking turns to head up the Heavy Metal procession, flying sponsor Ed Stone’s notorious flag, visiting Wales, London, the North East, the Midlands and the South.

Straight off the back of releasing their album ‘The Blood of Titans‘, Elimination are more than ready to take it to the masses:
